How To Correctly Prep For Exterior Staining

Step 1: Check to see if all the wood is dry

  • Make sure before you start staining your project that all the wood is dry, because the stain won't bond properly. This could cause the stain to crack or even peel off the wood.
  • If you don't check for moisture before staining your project could experience erosion and many other physical problems.

Step 2: Inspect your surface before staining

  • Make sure you inspect the surface of your project for any damage.
  • If you find any damaged wood make sure you replace it before staining. If you don't remove or clean the damaged surface you won't get the best results out of your stain.

At PaintBonanza, we have a nice selection of exterior stains.
